Defensive Midfielder- Ivan Rakitic- 6/10

With Sergio Busquets having been rested, Ivan Rakitic slotted into the defensive midfielder’s role, though the Croatia international played just the opening half of the match before making way for the natural player. The former Sevilla midfielder completed 25 passes with a completion of just 75% oddly. Nonetheless, Rakitic fulfilled his role well but surely not too much on par with Busquets’ quality. He deservedly rested in the second half after putting in some quality and hectic performances over the last few weeks.

Right Midfielder- Carles Alena- 7/10

Just over a week since a stunning show as a substitute versus Villarreal, Carles Alena got his first Champions League start against Tottenham at right midfield, his preferred position. Given the quality of the opposition that Alena played against, it was a pretty good performance from the young midfielder. While the 20-year-old’s overall involvement in the match was fairly less, Alena completed 96% of his passes and was warmly treated by the Barcelona faithful. Alena will be hoping for more minutes in the season for sure.

Left Midfielder- Arthur Melo- 6.5/10

Arthur Melo made his return from injury nearly three weeks since pulling up at Atletico Madrid. While he was not profoundly missed by Barcelona, his return was certainly a positive sign for the Blaugrana who missed his passing and connection from the defence to attack over the last few matches. In spite of playing a big part with the build-up and passing, Arthur’s movement was limited to being in his own half and as a result, he struggled to make an impact when attacking the opposition.
