Chelsea striker, Alvaro Morata, is ready for a change of scenery and Barcelona is reportedly a possible destination.

According to a report by Spanish radio station, RAC1, Alvaro Morata has offered himself to Barcelona. The current Chelsea player is said to be unhappy at the London-based club and is looking for a way out.  Initial meetings between the player’s representatives and Barcelona have taken place but any type of negotiations are in the early stages.

Barcelona have been open about wanting to find a suitable replacement for Luis Suarez. The 31-year-old Suarez has even agreed that it is only natural that the club are looking for someone to replace him.

Morata has struggled in his two seasons at Chelsea. He’s scored five goals in 14 matches but is still not the first choice with Maurizio Sarri preferring to rotate and use Olivier Giroud as the striker to complement Eden Hazard. Confidence, or lack thereof, seems to be the big hindrance for the 26 year-old. It certainly doesn’t help when your own manager calls you “a little bit fragile, mentally” as Sarri has done.

Considering Morata’s past, this rumor will not go down well in Madrid or in Barcelona for that matter. A product of Real Madrid’s academy, fans of los blancos will see this as a betrayal but it’s something that’s not uncommon. There have been a number of ex-Real Madrid players play for Barcelona and vice versa. For the Blaugrana faithful, they may not be so keen after Morata made an obscene gesture in Chelsea’s Champions League loss against Barcelona last season.

If a move does happen, it will be Morata’s fourth club after already playing for Juventus, Real Madrid, and Chelsea. The Spanish striker has yet to solidify himself as a starter in any of his previous clubs. His most productive time was with Juventus but even they used him more as an impact sub than as a starter.

But a change of scenery could be what he needs to turn his career around and get back into the Spanish National team.
