Alex Sandro 6.5/10

Alex Sandro probably should’ve started this match, but it didn’t take long for him to be introduced because of Cuadrado’s injury. Once he was on the field he struggled a bit to work with the attack and his only real contribution to the defense was a laughably bad penalty called against him. He just got a fresh contract extension and he’ll get another chance to earn his pay raise against Torino.

Emre Can 6/10

Emre Can was able to play a little bit longer in his second appearance since his thyroid surgery, but he didn’t make much happen while he was out there. He wasn’t an upgrade from Pjanic’s disappointing performance. He was pretty much just a warm body on the field. He is likely still trying to get back into form and it showed against Young Boys.

Paulo Dybala 8/10

More from Serie A

Paulo Dybala was probably disappointed to hear the final whistle as it signaled he won’t get to play against Young Boys anymore this season. His best performances have come against the Swiss squad and this time around he was able to break a 5 match goalless streak with his beautiful strike late in the match. He was also robbed of a second by Ronaldo’s pointless lunge at the ball. Dybala was back into his familiar position playing behind the lead striker and he looked much more comfortable than he has on the wing all year. Hopefully this performance won’t convince Allegri that Dybala should continue to start on the wing because he keeps playing well when started in other positions.

Massimiliano Allegri 0/10

Awful. Just awful stuff from Allegri. This was Juve’s second loss of the Champions League season and it was even more embarrassing than the first. Allegri started the most random combination of players he could find and it showed. I don’t know if he felt that this would be an easy win, but the lineup he started and the team’s performance made it look like that was the mentality. When it became clear that Benatia and Cancelo would be unavailable Allegri should have absolutely inserted Sandro into the starting lineup to make sure there was a reliable defender on the field (no,  I don’t count Bonucci as one of those). The team seemed to lack any kind of real attacking strategy as they just aimlessly drove forward and tried to force balls through the defense.

This was by far Juve’s worst performance of the year from start to finish and that absolutely falls on the manager.
