Manchester United have officially announced that they have terminated Jose Mourinho’s contract after their 3-1 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday.

Manchester United announced on their official Twitter channel that they had parted ways with first-team boss Jose Mourinho. The Red Devils lie whey outside the top four and had won only one of their last six matches in the Premier League for which you have to go all the way back to early November.

The Red Devils’ loss to Liverpool at the Anfield last Sunday was their first defeat to the Merseysiders in a Premier League match since the 2013/14 season and a second successive one for the club who had also lost at Valencia in the Champions League last weekend. Lying in sixth place in the Premier League, the Red Devils have won only seven of their 17 matches this season, drawing and losing five each.

Jose Mourinho’s relationship with the board of directors and in particular, Ed Woodward was certainly not at its peak either and that was clearly visible with the innumerable digs that the former Chelsea and Real Madrid manager took in light with the lack of signings which the club made.

Let us take a look at the best Twitter reactions after the Red Devils announced that the first team boss had left.

Me and this lad have a lot in common, for sure!

Only a “Special One” could take down two massive things at once…

Irrespective of Jose staying or not, Pogba’s Instagram post shouldn’t have gone up in the first place…

If he’s talking the truth then this man’s missing a lot on Twitter, isn’t he?

Over the last few hours, there’s been no let down whatsoever!

Absolutely! Has Carras got what it takes to lead the Red Devils to the top four?

I’d beg to disagree…most of the Twitterati was occupied by the Man United faithful…

What if the chairman is the true culprit for not supporting the managers with the signings?
