Chelsea has revived their interest in AC Milan talisman Gonzalo Higuain, currently on loan at Juventus.

Chelsea is on the quest for a new striker. While Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata have been by no means bad, Maurizio Sarri feels like things could do with a kick up front.

That said, it’s positive for the fans to see Chelsea are interested in signing Gonzalo Higuain again. According to the Daily Mail, Sarri has ‘revived his interest’ in the Argentine, as he is keen to continue the healthy relationship they shared during their time with Napoli. They report that Chelsea could take over the deal currently held by Milan, due to their struggles with Financial Fair Play regulations. This means the London side could have the option to buy come summer.

Furthermore, Sky Sports are reporting that Sarri could include Alvaro Morata as part of a swap deal.

It’s a no-brainer for Chelsea

Higuain is one of the best strikers and he’s shown it this season. He picked up a red card in an awful performance against Juventus but since then, he has improved a lot. Even though he hasn’t scored in the last seven games, he has looked impressive in his most recent matches. It feels like a goal is coming anytime soon.

Obviously, Chelsea won’t want any goal droughts. They suffered the same fate last season with Morata. However, Higuain is a lot more deadly than the Spaniard, and given the right service, he will thrive in the Premier League.

Maurizio Sarri is showing intent

This is the second time Sarri has tried to sign Higuain for the blues. If anything, this shows that he has a clear plan for Chelsea. Higuain is 31 years old, so it’s not a long-term plan, but Sarri knows better than anyone what he’s doing.

It will be interesting to see how this saga pans out. Should Sarri get the right backing in terms of negotiation, then there’s no reason why he can’t get a deal from this.

Do you think Chelsea will sign Gonzalo Higuain?
