LB: Alex Sandro

Alex Sandro had a lot of responsibility thrust upon him against Torino last weekend, but was able to thrive under the pressure. With Joao Cancelo out for the next month and Juan Cuadrado injured last week Sandro became Juve’s only full back option who could contribute to the attack. In their absence he was a force on both ends of the field, cleaning up after an errant Giorgio Chiellini pass, leading the team in tackles, and supplying some dangerous passes. He’ll need to maintain that level of play as Juve will once again be without those two options on the right side of the defense. Sandro recently signed a contract extension and this match will be another perfect opportunity to show why Juve was so eager to keep him around.

RB: Mattia De Sciglio

It must be tough being Mattia De Sciglio right now. There has been absolutely nothing wrong with his recent performances when Juve has needed him to step up as a replacement, but when the players you’re replacing are Joao Cancelo and Alex Sandro it’s kind of difficult to live up to the standards they set. Unlike in previous matches it seems unlikely that De Sciglio’s lack of contribution to the attack will play much of a part in this match because of Roma’s awful defending this season, especially on the road. Instead De Sciglio’s defensive abilities will be a major boost for Juve as they try to slow down a Roma attack that has scored 8 goals in their last 4 matches. De Sciglio hasn’t been a player who has stood out so far this season, but this is a match where he can make a big impact.
