Neymar is stepping up his efforts to return to Barcelona

Neymar is desperate for a move from Paris Saint-Germain to his former club Barcelona.

Neymar is absolutely killing the game for Paris Saint-Germain. The Brazilian attacker has scored 18 goals and provided seven assists in France this season. However, he is still being linked with a move away, with many stating that he wishes to rejoin Barcelona.

The Mirror is one of those claiming this. They report that Neymar is ‘desperate’ for a move to Barcelona, with his staff making increased phone calls to the Barca officials over the last few weeks. Obviously, with the transfer window coming up this could determine Barca’s 2019.

Barcelona don’t need to strengthen their attack

Barcelona have some of the best depth in their attack, including a number of young players. They have the obvious Lionel Messi, but there is also Luis Suarez, Ousmane Dembele, Philippe Coutinho, Malcom and many others who could be important to Ernesto Valverde.

Neymar has done many great things for PSG, however, he’s also been known to ruin the overall morale. With the likes of Dembele and Malcom awaiting their Barcelona breakthrough, and Dembele even rumoured to leave, Barca can’t afford to throw any spanners into the mix, despite how luxurious those spanners might be.

If Ousmane Dembele leaves then things will be different

At this point, I highly doubt that Ousmane Dembele will move away from Catalunya. We all know about the importance of Messi within decision-making, and with him revealing that Barca ‘needs’ Dembele, then this could sway the club’s stance. It may even sway the stance of Dembele.

However, if Dembele does get his move away, then Barcelona will have no choice but to replace him. Let’s face it, are there many others better than Neymar on the market? Barcelona have the funds, and of course, the attraction, to lure Neymar into a move.

Neymar and Dembele are both very similar players. However, Dembele edges Neymar when it comes to creativity. Messi had a healthy working relationship with both Neymar and Suarez during their time under Luis Enrique, so Neymar can certainly adapt to many environments.
