8. Marc Overmars (1997-2000)

Marc Overmars often goes overlooked when it comes to looking back at Arsenal legends. Perhaps it’s because he didn’t spend much time with the Gunners in comparison with some others. However, he was an immensely talented player and Arsene Wenger made sure to get the best out of him.

He played on the wing but he was notorious for being all over the pitch. Whenever he had the ball at his feet, many opposition players feared for the sake of their careers because the Dutchman had the ability to embarrass them in all kinds of ways.

He liked to cut inside and use his footwork to the best of his ability, making his own route to putting the ball in the back of the net. It really was that easy for him, he was just that kind of player.

With Arsenal, he lifted the Premier League and the FA Cup in his first season. He also went on to lift the Community Shield that year. It was quite the debut season for him and it set the path to become an Arsenal legend.

You can still find him strutting about in football nowadays. Of course, he went back to help out Ajax, a club which served him well. He is the current director of football with the Eredivisie club. Many Arsenal fans will hope that one day he returns to Arsenal to fill a similar role, they could definitely do with him taking a role behind the scenes.
