7. David Seaman (1990-2003)

David Seaman is one for the ages but his goalkeeping is still an inspiration to many to this day. Not many players can say they completed 13 wholesome years with the Gunners, let alone leave behind the legacy Seaman did.

Unfortunately for the English goalkeeper, he left just before the invincible era, so he isn’t as recognised as he should be. With no disrespect to Jens Lehmann, I think Seaman was the better goalkeeper of the two, however, they are often compared.

Some of the saves which Seaman pulled off were incredible. This one in particular against Sheffield United is still universally recognised today and for good reason. If you haven’t seen it yet, then prepare yourself…

For some reason, whenever I watch that, my body hurts. How on earth did he have that reach on him to pull off such a save?

Anyway, he won a lot with Arsenal during his time. Three league titles, four FA Cups, a League Cup and a European Cup Winners’ Cup were the most recognised of the bunch.

He wasn’t an Arsene Wenger signing but the Frenchman did get the best out of him. He was one of the more senior players when Wenger arrived on the scene, so his maturity shone through.

He still features for the Gunners sometimes, even given his old age. I know, looking at him now you’d think he’s still young. Whenever there’s a charity match, he’s always willing to take part. More often than not, he impresses between the sticks. Is it too late for a call-up?
