As we look forward to a new year, here are five Arsenal players to look out for.

Arsenal kick off the knockout stages of the Europa League against BATE Borisov. In the group stage, plenty of youngsters got the chance and performed to the best of their ability. That said, don’t be surprised if Unai Emery gives them the chance in the knockout stages.

The Europa League is the best chance to watch Arsenal’s youngsters in action. However, they will get chances in the Premier League depending on how their year and end to the season pans out.

Without further ado, which youngsters are in line to impress in 2019?

1. Joe Willock (19 years old)

Joe Willock has already impressed this season, in his first taste of life under Unai Emery. Willock has played two full-length matches in the Europa League, scoring in his first of the season. He scored an impressive goal and was the standout performer as Arsenal beat Vorskla 3-0 away from home.

Willock is beginning to mature as a player, so 2019 will only bring fruitful things for the youngster. He is a composed attacker, which was demonstrated when he converted with great aplomb against Vorskla. He’s a tidy player, often getting his teammates involved in attacking play.

He has the ability to play both defensively and offensively, but in my opinion, he is better among the attackers. Don’t be surprised to see Emery experiment with him to find out his best position.

Willock has a good partnership with a number of the Arsenal academy stars, but given his style of play, there’s no reason why he can’t integrate with the likes of Aubameyang and Lacazette. Keep it up, Willock!
