5. Ainsley Maitland-Niles (21 years old)

He’s the oldest of the bunch, but that can only be a good thing. It means that he is ready to start blossoming as a player. That’s if you don’t think he has already, of course.

The Englishman suffered a disappointing start to the season. He was looking good to start off with against Manchester City, however, he soon picked up a broken leg which sidelined him for a few months. This is never good to witness, but I just knew Maitland-Niles would come back stronger.

He is still in the process of re-integrating himself back into the first team, but with 2019 in full swing, he will be ready to take on the world. If 2017/18 wasn’t good enough for him, he will be hungry to achieve even more this year.

He is a very composed player, that’s the first thing which becomes apparent when watching him. He likes to drift past his opposing number with ease, the ball sticking to his feet as if it were superglued there. This has resulted in him filling the void at fullback a few times, but his best position is undeniably in midfield. With his composure, the play is able to run through him in the centre of the park, making the swift attacking play come a lot easier to Emery’s men.
