Having closed a massive £58 million deal for American winger Christian Pulisic, Chelsea will now turn their attention to PSV’s Hirving Lozano.
Hirving “Chucky” Lozano, 23, has been making the rounds in Europe for quite some time now. The Mexican winger was signed by Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven in 2017, after making his breakthrough with Pachuca.
His 17 goals in the Eredivisie last season helped PSV reclaim the league title from Feyenoord. This season, he’s scored 11 goals in 17 matches so far.

Lozano has been a target for Europe’s biggest clubs for a long time now, but has chosen to continue his development in the Netherlands. However, after an impressive display at the World Cup in Mexico, he’s probably ready to make the step up to one of Europe’s top 5 leagues now.
He mostly plays on the left wing, and is known for his pace, creativity, crossing and finishing. He has all the classic attributes of an inverted winger, and in spite of being right-footed, he’s capable of whipping in crosses with his left.
Chelsea have been dealing with a lot injuries in attack this season. Olivier Giroud was recently forced off the field against Crystal Palace, joining Pedro and Callum Hudson-Odoi on the growing injury list.
This leaves Maurizio Sarri with Eden Hazard, Alvaro Morata and Willian up front. Morata has largely been unable to convince Sarri of his talent this season, and the rumors linking Hazard to Real Madrid have not died down.
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich are said to be interested in 18-year-old Hudson-Odoi.
The arrival of Christian Pulisic for Dortmund will be a welcome sight for Blues fans, but the 20-year-old American superstar will be loaned back to the Germans for the rest of the season, and will not be able to solve Sarri’s immediate problems.
Lozano could prove to be a shrewd piece of business by Chelsea. He is still young enough to be a mainstay for several years to come, and he’ll be a natural replacement for the ageing Willian and Pedro.
More importantly, he’ll give Sarri an invaluable extra option in attack for the rest of the season.
