Against all odds, it looks like Barcelona will be making a move for Alvaro Morata in the summer after seeing the player’s desire to play for them as well.

Alvaro Morata signed for Chelsea in the summer of 2017 for a massive transfer fee in excess of 75 million euros. The Spain international had a good start to life at Chelsea which has been hindered since then and there seems to be no clarity over his future right now in west London, with the Blues looking at a new striking option.

Morata wants to leave Chelsea as he probably has no chance of making the team. Olivier Giroud is usually preferred to him, who himself is second choice to Eden Hazard that has assumed the false nine’s role. Even Michy Batshuayi has returned from loan at Valencia and Gonzalo Higuain has been eyed, so normally so, Morata is annoyed and concerned.

Sevilla have been the customers that are considering a loan move for him until the end of this season, but his hefty wage demands mean that the Andalusian outfit is not willing to insert an option of buying him in the summer. Atletico Madrid are a likely candidate as well, but Alvaro Morata wants a different move altogether.

The former Real Madrid and Juventus striker believes that moving to Barcelona could help him re-ignite his career. The prospect of playing with Lionel Messi has caught his eye and Morata has asked his agent to formulate a move to Catalonia in the summer, if not at this point in time during the January transfer window.

The officers at the Camp Nou are expected to value the proposal as well given that Munir is set to leave the club inevitably in the next few weeks or the summer. Luis Suarez has started to age as well and he could be in need of some competition too. And hence, Morata seems to be an attractive prospect for Barcelona though he has absolutely flopped at London.

Next. Munir won't play another minute for Barcelona. dark

Diario GOL has always been a source which has a 50-50 reputation of predicting transfer stories, so only time will tell whether Morata’s case is true or not. His association and love for Real Madrid in spite of a failure in making it to the starting eleven suggest that he won’t go to Catalonia after all, but well, who can predict stuff in football! Do you see Morata at Barcelona next season?
