Real Madrid has struggled both offensively and defensively this season, and Florentino Perez is considering a bid for Genoa striker Krzysztof Piatek to solve the Los Blancos’ goalscoring woes.
Apart from their apparent inability to score goals this season – Barcelona has almost double the number of goals they do in LaLiga – Real are also struggling with injury issues in attack.
Gareth Bale, Marco Asensio and Mariano Diaz are all probably going to miss their upcoming match against Real Betis. This has led Perez to wade into the transfer market in search of a cut-price forward for the rest of the season, and his search has led him to Serie A side Genoa.

Madrid has been scouting Krzysztof Piatek during his club’s training camp in Murcia, with Perez poised to make a bid.
Piatek only joined Genoa this summer for €4 million from Cracovia. The Polish international has made a blistering start in Italy, scoring 13 goals in 19 league appearances.
This, ironically, places him just one goal below former Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo in the Serie A scoring charts.
He has not gone unnoticed – Chelsea was also reportedly interested in signing him at one point.
Before this season, the 23-year-old wasn’t exactly a household name. In fact, he has only 2 caps for Poland, scoring his first goal for them in a 3-2 defeat to Portugal in September last year.
At Genoa, Piatek often plays as part of a front 2. He is a proper goalscoring centre forward, known best for his poaching ability in the penalty box. He’s also excellent in the air – something that Madrid have sorely missed in the absence of Ronaldo.
Even though Piatek isn’t the Galactico signing fans will want, he might be just the kind of player Real need right now.
Ever since Ronaldo left, they have lacked a player capable of scoring 30+ goals a season. While Piatek can in no way be a replacement for the Juventus number 7, he might at least be able to salvage something out of what has been a disastrous season so far.
