Defensive Midfielder- Sergio Busquets- 8/10

Sergio Busquets started against an attacking team and was going to have a very hectic outing. And so he did. Despite making things look simple, it was a hard day for him but he tackled the difficulties from Eibar really well. Joan Jordan was kept at bay at all times by the Spain international so that the visiting side lacked creativity in the final third. Busquets was subbed off with nearly half an hour to go as Ernesto Valverde kept one eye on next week’s Copa del Rey match.

Right Midfielder- Ivan Rakitic- 6/10

Ivan Rakitic endured a poor night on the field and there was not much of involvement for the Croatia international throughout the game. The former Sevilla midfielder played only 46 passes in the entire match and completed 88% of them. Rakitic was rested for the Levante game last week, so keeping in mind that he had a week-long rest, it was not a good display by him. He is likely to start the cup’s second leg fixture and will need to have a much better evening on Thursday.

Left Midfielder- Arthur Melo- 7/10

Barcelona required creativity from their midfielders and with Rakitic enduring a rusty evening it was Arthur Melo who put in a helping hand. The Brazil international linked superbly with his compatriot Philippe Coutinho on the left side of Barcelona’s attack. Arthur completed 51 accurate passes with 96% accuracy. While he conducted the game superbly with the ball, Arthur did well whilst gaining it back as well and won eight duels throughout the match. He was subbed off early though.
