Real Madrid racked up three important points on the board with their win over Real Betis on Sunday evening by a 2-1 margin.

Real Madrid bagged three important points to stay in the hunt for La Liga Santander as they got the better of Real Betis by a 2-1 margin on Sunday evening, at the Estadio Benito Villamarin. The victory means that the Whites are now on fourth place tied on points with Sevilla, who they take on next week. Los Merengues remain five behind Atletico Madrid and ten short of Barcelona.

Real Betis played the match on a high note of beautiful football that has been associated with them since Quique Setien arrived at the helm. The Verdiblancos kept hold of 74% of the ball against Los Blancos over the 90 minutes in an affair that was nothing short of high intensity football. At the end, Real Madrid made most of their chances and got past the finishing line with all three points.

Luka Modric struck from outside the box for Santiago Solari’s men after two earlier shots were deflected off defenders. The Croat’s goal was cancelled out by Sergio Canales in the second half, thanks to VAR intervening, but former Real Betis man turned savior for Los Merengues. His free-kick two minutes from time helped the Whites in salvaging a win in a trick outing.

Let us take a look at how the players fared.

Goalkeeper- Keylor Navas- 6.5/10

Keylor Navas did not have to do much on the night as Real Betis threatened less and were usually passing only sideways and backwards thanks to Madrid’s stubborn defensive organization. The Costa Rican’s bid of keeping a clean sheet was nulled by Canales, but there was nothing that the goalie could do to keep Betis’ goal out.
