Left Centre Back- Nacho Fernandez- 7.5/10

Nacho put in a composed and cool performance in the centre of Real Madrid’s three man defence. The Spain international was not expected to start the game, but Santiago Solari’s experimented and conservation approach to the match meant that Nacho got the nod at the back. Sergio Canales scored a goal, but he was kept silent for most occasions of the match by the experienced Nacho. The central defender will be starting again versus Leganes on Wednesday evening.

Centre Back- Sergio Ramos- 7.5/10

Sergio Ramos put in another great and leader’s display from the heart of the defence and made sure that Real Betis were not allowed to get many opportunities in Real Madrid’s box throughout the match. He headed out most crosses and made some absolutely brilliant tackles to dispossess a lot of Betis players. He was made to look foolish when Betis created their goal, but that does not take away a good display from the Madrid captain. He was vital for the team as usual.

Right Centre Back- Raphael Varane- 7/10

Raphael Varane started the night with great enthusiasm and energy, but at the end of the match he would be least happy with his performance, mainly because a 37-year-old Joaquin gave him a lot of worrying moments from Real Betis’ left side. Thankfully, he did not let the Real Betis veteran enter into the 18 yard area because had he gotten inside, his silky footwork could have created problems for Madrid. Varane is likely to be playing in Wednesday’s cup match.
