Right Wing Back- Dani Carvajal- 7.5/10
Dani Carvajal played in an advanced role than usual and was playing as the right wing back for most durations of the match. His biggest fault was that he kept Sergio Canales onside for the hosts’ equalizing goal. Carvajal could attack more often and without tracking back thanks to his position, but that is not natural for him and he was spotted going backward naturally and instinctively.
Right Midfielder- Luka Modric- 8/10
Luka Modric put in a very good display as well as a demanding shift against the Real Betis side which tried hard to nullify his creativity. His brilliant goal turned out to be a difference maker at the end of the match. Not just that, Modric was involved in the playmaking very often and initiated a large number of attacks for Madrid. Had the team had more possession, Modric could have done better.
Left Midfielder- Casemiro- 7.5/10
Casemiro was the left midfielder as per the team sheet, but he actually played just ahead of the central defenders. The Brazil international’s main problem from the last few matches has been his poor positioning, but that has changed since the last match against Leganes and Casemiro did a nice job against Real Betis as well. He will be playing in the Copa del Rey match on Wednesday.
Left Wing Back- Sergio Reguilon- 8/10
Sergio Reguilon was the left wing back. He did a decent job from an overall perspective and his defending need not be judged because he had enough players covering behind him. Reguilon’s passing with Vinicius helped Madrid go on the counter attacks. He could have gone further forward as well given that he was not a defender this time out. Maybe, Marcelo could have done better.
