Arsenal are stepping up their efforts to dispose of Mesut Ozil
By Kian Long
Mesut Ozil has fallen out of favour at Arsenal under Unai Emery, but the saga has taken another turn.
Unai Emery isn’t the biggest fan of Mesut Ozil, that’s for sure. Much to the annoyance of many Arsenal fans, this has resulted in the German missing a large part of this season. Outlets even went as far to report that Emery wanted to sell Ozil. I wasn’t the biggest believer of this at first, but now I’m convinced it’s true.
According to The Mirror, Arsenal will even go as far as paying some of Ozil’s wages if he leaves North London. This is quite the stance to take, but is it worth it?
What is Emery thinking?!

Unai Emery is a man of discipline. That can either come as his strength or downfall, but in this case, it’s doing nothing but creating a bad squad harmony. Ozil is one of the best players available to Arsenal currently, so losing him would be silly.
Emery is known to create a toxic atmosphere within his clubs. Back in August, it was revealed that he had a power struggle with Neymar in Paris. This is the last thing Arsenal needs in their period of transition.
I don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes. The only people that truly know what’s going on are Emery and Ozil. However, if Emery is planning to sell him solely to prove a point, then he’d be doing quite the opposite. Arsenal will only suffer detrimental impacts from selling their star playmaker.
Nobody can replace him in the Arsenal setup
The only other creator in Arsenal’s ranks is Henrikh Mkhitaryan. With all due respect, I’m sure we can all agree on who of the two is better. It’s Ozil, by a million miles.
There’s a reason why the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette both love to play with Ozil. Removing the former German international from the XI is only going to limit their chances, or even worse force them to create for themselves. No striker wishes to do that.
Do you think Arsenal are doing the right thing in selling Mesut Ozil?
