After failing to claim the Supercoppa Italiana each of the last two seasons, Juventus finally claimed the one domestic trophy that has recently evaded their grasp.

It wasn’t as easy for Juventus as they would’ve hoped. The match went into halftime deadlocked at 0 and AC Milan had registered the only shot on target. They then nearly opened the scoring early in the first half when Patrick Cutrone was kept out by the post in the 47th minute.

It wasn’t until the 59th minute that Juventus registered their first shot on goal, but it wouldn’t take long after that for them to open the scoring. In the 61st minute Miralem Pjanic chipped a perfect ball over the top of the Milan defense that Cristiano Ronaldo headed past Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Franck Kessie would later be sent off for a late challenge and Emre Can nearly gave up a penalty late in the match, but in the end the scoreline stood at 1-0 Juventus and they lifted the Supercoppa Italiana trophy for the first time since 2015.

GK: Wojciech Szczesny 6.5/10

This was yet another easy day for Wojciech Szczesny. He only faced one shot on target and it wasn’t a particularly troubling one. He distributed the ball well from the back, but overall he wasn’t asked to do much against Milan. His next start likely won’t provide much more of a challenge unless he is rested against Chievo and faces a road test against Lazio next.
