Barcelona and Messi hope to steal Real Madrid’s Galactico
Real Madrid want to make a statement in the summer by signing a Galactico, but Barcelona have their eyes set on spoiling their rivals’ proposed party.
Eden Hazard’s situation is Chelsea will be coming to an end at the end of this season and there is a high chance that the player and club will be parting ways. The Belgium international will be having just a year on his contract at the Stamford Bridge once 2019/20 starts, so the Blues will want to cash in on him rather than seeing him go for free a year later. Hazard has even refused to sign a contract at west London and there is a chance that he may request for a transfer in the summer.
The Belgium captain has made it clear that if he is to leave the Premier League giants, it is going to be only and only for Real Madrid, who have been monitoring him as well. Florentino Perez reciprocates the player’s admiration for the club and there is a realistic and imminent chance that the Whites will at least be approaching Chelsea in order to potentially bring Hazard to Spain’s capital.

However, Barcelona are looking to hijack the deal and want to sign Eden Hazard with the futures of both Ousmane Dembele and Philippe Coutinho under white lights. The Catalans believe that Hazard is an upgrade from both the aforementioned wingers and that he can add a notch better to the games of Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi than Phil or Dembouz. While Hazard has flirted with Real Madrid on innumerable occasions, Barcelona might use Lionel Messi as bait to bring the Belgian in. Last week only, Hazard said:
"“There are not two GOATs (Greatest of All Time). There is only one: he is, Leo Messi. My two games against Barcelona are not my best memories of 2018. However, I was happy to face Barcelona and Messi. My three children were there. The eldest is a big Messi fan. We are all fans of Leo. I wanted to see him in that match, since he is a special player.”"
While Eden Hazard is an open aficionado of Real Madrid and has made his feelings clear about wanting to play for the 13 time European champions, Barcelona also have something in them which could entice Hazard into donning the Blue and Red jersey next season. Whether the Belgium international opts to play for the club which he regards greatest or the player which he regards greatest remains to be seen, but for now all signs point towards him playing for Los Merengues.
