Real Madrid have shortlisted a very long list of strikers who could be arriving in Spain during the summer. There’s another surprise on their radar now.

Real Madrid are enduring one of their worst seasons till date. While their defending has been fairly satisfactory, the Whites have lacked the firepower when going forward and that has inevitably cost them a lot of points. In the league, Madrid are fourth and have lost ten times already in all competitions this season. Honestly, the world’s greatest club has come down to meme material in the last few months only because of the lack of transfer activity.

The Whites are already on their second coach of this season and even his job is under scrutiny after some dismal results. But Santiago Solari is expected to stay as the boss until at least the end of this season and following Wednesday’s defeat to Leganes, the 42-year-old made his striking concerns heard to his seniors at Real Madrid. Whether it is in January or July, Los Blancos are expected to sign a striker from the top tier of football.

More from Real Madrid

In an astonishing yet believable rumour, Don Balon has claimed that the European champions are chasing the signatures of Romelu Lukaku of Manchester United. The Belgium international has scored numerous goals throughout his career but things have just not worked out properly for him. From being an untouchable member in Jose Mourinho’s side, he has fallen behind Marcus Rashford under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Romelu Lukaku is hopeful of things changing in the summer and Solskjaer being replaced by a permanent manager, but if things go differently and the Norwegian lands a permanent role at the Old Trafford, the former Everton striker will be open to hearing offers and some advances from Real Madrid could turn out to be impossible for Manchester United as well as the player to reject in the summer.

Harry Kane continues to be Florentino Perez’s priority but the Real Madrid President feels that Tottenham Hotspur are being too cunning by labelling the England captain at 200 million euros. Lukaku has a market value of 85 million and in any case, the total cost of landing him into the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium will not be exceeding 120 million euros so that’s nearly just two-thirds of what the Whites may spend on Harry Kane.

Romelu Lukaku to Real Madrid could be a good move for Los Merengues. The 25-year-old has been impacted at Manchester United due to Jose Mourinho’s defensive style of football, whereas under Solskjaer, he has scored goals despite playing just a handful of minutes. Plus, his stats earlier from the Everton days and even those with Belgium suggest that Lukaku has a lot to give. Also, probably playing next to Eden Hazard could get the best out of both players.

Can Hazard, Lukaku and Mourinho combine to help Real Madrid get back to the top next season?
