Real Madrid were made to dig deep against Sevilla, but they worked hard and claimed a 2-0 success at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday.

Real Madrid claimed a massive and commanding win over Sevilla by a 2-0 margin in La Liga Santander on Saturday evening to move to third place. It was a completely dominant display by Los Merengues, who had to leave it late to pick up all three points against a resolute side hailing from Andalusia.

Casemiro scored a beautiful and thunderous goal from nearly thirty yards out to open the scoring for Los Blancos with just twelve minutes to go for full-time. It was his first goal of the season and definitely one which was worth waiting for. A goal like that certainly deserves the plaudits and will gain a lot of media attention.

Real Madrid’s relentless high pressing paid off in stoppage time as Luka Modric slotted past Tomas Vaclik to open up a 2-0 lead for the Merengues. As the final whistle blew, the Bernabeu crowd applauded the players for their fantastic displays and the joyous mood around was contagious following the important and much-needed victory.

Let us take a look at the player ratings for the home side.

Goalkeeper- Thibaut Courtois- 8/10

Thibaut Courtois kept another clean sheet and this one was against a major opponent. The Belgium international still has a lot to do so that he can win over the fans, but this display was a good one. He used his intelligence and expanded himself well in a one-on-one situation with Sergio Escudero and made some decent saves in the second half.
