Defensive Midfielder- Casemiro- 9/10

Casemiro was the scorer of Real Madrid’s opening goal. The Brazil international is capable of hitting shots from that kind of range, and did he hit one against the Andalusians on Saturday! It was a superb display from Casemiro even from a defensive point of view. He made Ever Banega, the visiting side’s creative threat look virtually invisible throughout the 90 minutes. With his tackles, Casemiro was not clumsy and retrieved the ball well on several instances. A performance like this should be a regularity from him.

Right Midfielder- Luka Modric- 9.5/10

Luka Modric was perfectly amazing in the Sevilla game and peaked in the second half when the Whites needed intensity and creativity. He deserves the kudos for carrying on despite picking up a nasty injury right above his eye, but let that side for a moment. Modric was the engine for Real Madrid throughout the game and initiated a large number of attacks for the team. Defensively also, the Croatia international was superb. A brilliant evening for him was capped off by a goal for the second match in a row.

Left Midfielder- Dani Ceballos- 8.5/10

Dani Ceballos was right in the thick of it for most of the match. Playing as the role of a left midfielder on paper, Ceballos was a free roaming player and also got into the box on several occasions. He orchestrated a lot of plays through him and was also the carrier of the ball when the Whites needed to switch their flanks. The Spain international also rattled the crossbar from nearly twenty-five yards out. Overall, it was a magnificent display from him. He will be key in the cup matches and is likely to start all of them.
