The latest news is that Kevin de Bruyne, who was being eyed by Real Madrid as a replacement to Modric has rejected the club by verbally committing to Man City.

Real Madrid have been looking at Eden Hazard as well as Romelu Lukaku as potential signings in the summer. The Whites have also been monitoring Kevin de Bruyne of Manchester City as they eye a Belgian evolution in their squad. However, it does not look like the former Chelsea midfielder is interested in making the move.

Florentino Perez is a massive admirer of Kevin de Bruyne and wants him to replace Luka Modric at Real Madrid- who is now 33 or could even probably head to Inter Milan in the summer. De Bruyne is one of the best players in the world and he has flourished under Pep Guardiola’s system since arriving from Wolfsburg.

More from Real Madrid

The Manchester giants rate Kevin de Bruyne highly and have valued him at 200 million euros. The price tag was always going to be expensive, even for a rich club like Real Madrid, but even the player has decided to pass on the Whites in favour of Pep Guardiola and City, who he believes will continue to grow in stature over the next few years.

The former Wolfsburg midfielder could have been a fantastic signing for Real Madrid given that he has experience, vision, goals and mentality but there is nothing that they can do about his rejection now. Fortunately, there are several options right now, with Christian Eriksen being one of them, and even in-house names looking very promising.

Kevin de Bruyne has a contract at the Etihad Stadium until 2023 coupled with a superb relationship with his manager as well. The main reason why he rejects Real Madrid is because the Belgium international feels that Manchester City have a lot of ambitious projects in mind, whereas Real Madrid are going down as a club since Ronaldo left.

There is now one less name on the list for Los Merengues, but that will certainly not be putting them off because there are a lot of promising names as well. Christian Eriksen, as mentioned earlier could be a fantastic signing too, whereas the likes of Dani Ceballos and Mateo Kovacic have a lot to give to the team as well.
