CB: Giorgio Chiellini

The level that Giorgio Chiellini continues to perform at even at 34 years old is absolutely incredible. He absolutely shut the Milan attack down as he helped Juve claim their first trophy during his time as captain. The way he has been playing this season makes it look like that will be the first of many. Against Chievo he’ll be looking to keep himself at that high level as he leads Juve to an 8th straight Scudetto and his first as captain. It’s unlikely that he’ll be able to play at this unbelievable level for much  longer so Juventus better take advantage while they can.

CB: Daniele Rugani

It might be time for Juventus to let Rugani move on. He rarely gets playing time these days and it has clearly impacted his development. He was once regarded as one of the best defensive prospects in Italy, but now he is nothing more than a bench warmer at Juve and rarely gets called to the Italian national team for any meaningful matches. The match against Chievo provides another opportunity for Rugani to actually get some minutes, but at this point it seems like every match he plays for Juve is just an audition for whatever team he will join next. It’s unfortunate that Juventus has begun to waste young Italian talents regularly, so hopefully Rugani can play well enough the rest of the year to convince somebody to make an enticing offer for him. At this point it’s his best hope of ever reaching his full potential.
