Barcelona’s transfer activity always goes under Lionel Messi’s scanner and whenever he gives the green light, things proceed to the next stage.

Barcelona sold Munir El Haddadi to Sevilla at the start of the January transfer window. The Catalans are now missing cover for Luis Suarez and they need to make sure that they sign an understudy for the Uruguay international before the winter period slams shut in less than ten days from now on.

The Catalans were eyeing Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata who is looking to leave west London amid lack of opportunities and unsettlement. The Blues are ready to sell him as well, but Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Gerard Pique have all asked Barcelona’s board of directors to not make a move for the Spain international given the way he has played of late.

The former Real Madrid now seems to be on his way to Atletico Madrid on a loan deal that could see the Europa League champions complete the signing permanently during summer.

The second name on Barcelona’s list was that of Luis Suarez’s strike partner in the Uruguay national team and the talisman of Catalan rivals Girona- Christian Stuani. The Middlesbrough flop has made a name for himself in La Liga Santander and has 12 goals to his name this season in 17 appearances as well as one in the Copa del Rey.

However, Lionel Messi feels that the 32-year-old would not be a good addition to the team given his age. The Argentine wants his club to sign somebody who can be young and then gradually become the first choice striker as Luis Suarez continues to grow older. That said, Messi and Pique as well as Luis Suarez have approved two big names.

Genoa striker Krzysztof Piatek has caught the eye of several European clubs including but not limited to Real Madrid and Bayern Munich in addition to Barcelona. The Czech Republican striker is the second highest top-scorer in Serie A, only behind Cristiano Ronaldo and his young age and not-so-large transfer fee could be a boon for Barcelona.

Luka Jovic who is on the books of Eintracht Frankfurt is another candidate who has a unanimous approval from the Barcelona trio. The forward caught attention from Europe when he hit five during a 7-1 win for the Frankfurters in the Bundesliga. That was the eye-catching performance from Jovic, but he has maintained consistency.
