Rashford has emerged this year as Man United’s primary center forward and has played outstanding, already surpassing his goal total from all of last season halfway through this campaign.

Since Gunnar Solskjaer took over for Jose Mourinho, the Red Devils have been playing very good football. The entire energy around the squad has been much more positive and it’s shown in every match so far in seven straight wins under the Norwegian. They are seeing a lot more quality out of Paul Pogba, amongst others.

One player who has been spectacular this season even under Mourinho has been Marcus Rashford. The youngster has solidified himself as United’s primary striker and has pushed Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez out of the starting eleven. There’s even a chance the Red Devils may sell Lukaku or Sanchez because both have been underperforming this season.

More from Manchester United

Rashford made his 150th appearance against Brighton over the weekend, reaching the milestone at the tender age of 21. He scored in fashion en route to a 2-1 victory. That was Rashford’s eighth Premier League goal of the season in just 20 appearances this term. He has a ton of promise and could very well be one of the top strikers in the Premier League in the very near future.

High ceiling for Rashford

Rashford hasn’t always seen this much playing time with United, but with a new manager and his form this year, he has absolutely proven himself and deserves to be their primary number nine right now. He has electrifying pace and is ruthless in the box, using his top class skill and finishing abilities to bag goals.

Under Solskjaer, the England international has netted five goals in seven appearances. The Norwegian is a huge fan of his young striker, and it’s very clear he has helped Rashford’s confidence and form as of late. Considering how young he is, the type of skill he shows at times is very exciting and speaks a lot to his maturity level.

Rashford has now scored 41 goals in 150 appearances for Man United since making his first-team debut in 2014, surpassing Cristiano Ronaldo at the same stage in his career. That alone speaks a lot to what type of player Rashford can be when he’s ahead of a player like Ronaldo in that category, who is arguably the best in the world.

The 21-year old was also part of England’s World Cup squad, even though he didn’t see a lot of playing time. In 31 appearances for his country, Rashford has bagged six goals, including three after the World Cup in Nations League play. There is no doubt though that he will definitely be a generational talent for his nation in the foreseeable future.

Versatility to play all across the front

Under Jose Mourinho, Rashford would tend to play more out wide rather than as a true number nine in the center. But under Solskjaer, he’s been playing primarily in the middle instead of Lukaku. The fact that Rashford has the ability to play all across the front is also a huge benefit. He is deadly out on the flanks as well because he can use his speed more out there, but then as a number nine Rashford is also electrifying because he can make crafty runs behind the defenders.

If you look at some of the best attackers in the world, a lot of them have this versatility. They aren’t limited to playing just one position up front. This will be a very important asset to the development of Marcus Rashford as he continues to grow and develop as a footballer.
