Defensive Midfielder- Casemiro- 8/10
Casemiro played only one hour of football throughout the match, but he did a very good job during whatever time he had. The 26-year-old kept on distributing the ball from behind and his passing proved to be of key as the Whites transmitted through a very high pressing Girona side several times. Casemiro also won a lot of aerial duels and won the ball from several Girona players. He also made sure that Alex Granell was nowhere to be seen in the first hour of the match.
Right Midfielder- Luka Modric- 9/10
Luka Modric is slowly finding his feet and hitting top form. The Girona performance was clearly not better than the Sevilla one, but it was excellent to say the least. The Croatia international was all over the pitch while making plays, tackling and what not. He also went into the box to score for a third match running, but unfortunately, he had not gotten many chances to make an impact. Modric gaining form is extremely good news for the Merengues.
Left Midfielder- Dani Ceballos- 8/10
Dani Ceballos was once again really creative, but somehow he did not look very comfortable playing along with Marcelo and Vinicius Junior, than he does with Reguilon and Vini. Ceballos was free roaming and made some very good passes, but his playmaking along the left wing was not really enticing and had he picked out Marcelo or Vinicius more often rather than going central or rightward, Madrid may have benefited and scored more goals. Nonetheless, Ceballos put in a really good display.
