Real Madrid is already set for some major changes in the summer, but things could undergo a bigger transition if three key players depart the club.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure from Real Madrid last summer left the European champions in doldrums from which they have not been able to recover even halfway into the 2018/19 campaign. The Whites are struggling to maintain consistency and score goals, with several key players not delivering as per expectation or even on par with their abilities.

Julen Lopetegui already got sacked in the month of October after leaving Real Madrid closer to the bottom half of the table than the top four. Santiago Solari has weathered the turbulence, but there is no clarity over his future either due to Real Madrid’s form and suggestions of him creating a coterie of a few in the dressing room.

More from Real Madrid

According to reports in Spain, three senior Real Madrid players are going to request for a transfer in the summer. The first one of them is Marcelo, who seeks to join his friend and former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo at Juventus. In the last two league matches, Sergio Reguilon has been preferred to the Brazil international and Marcelo is an unhappy man.

Secondly, Marco Asensio was in the good books of Santiago Solari up until his injury at the FIFA Club World Cup. The 23-year-old is nearing his return, but he fears that the 42-year-old has already prioritised names ahead of him including that of Vinicius Junior. Asensio has no intention of warming the bench and will listen to offers in the summer.

And finally, Isco is the name to cap off this list. The former Malaga midfielder has not been on good terms with the Real Madrid boss and has played just a handful of matches under him. Manchester Ciisare a team that is looking at Isco and the playmaker believes that the Blues could offer him the correct ecosystem to be successful.

Diario GOL is not a very reliable source, but some of its news can be spot on. However, it seems really unlikely of Marcelo or Asensio to leave the club. The two are considered world class by Florentino Perez so there is no way in which the President will allow both of them to go at once. Maybe Isco could move, but that too relies on Santi Solari’s future.
