Arsenal has a restricted budget this window (surprise surprise). That said, if they are to sign anyone, here are five reasons why it should be Ivan Perisic and not Denis Suarez.

Unai Emery had a successful transfer window in the summer. He signed Bernd Leno, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Lucas Torreira, Matteo Guendouzi and Stephan Lichtsteiner, all relatively early on. However, he has some work to do if Arsenal fans are to be happy with this window.

There are reports linking the Gunners to signing Denis Suarez of Barcelona. However, there have also been links with Ivan Perisic of Internazionale. That said, here are five arguments in favour of signing Ivan Perisic.

1. Let’s face it, a winger should be the priority

Arsenal is starved of natural wide players, that’s for sure. In fact, I can’t think of one senior Arsenal player that would rather play out wide than central. The likes of Mesut Ozil and Alex Iwobi are forced out wide but they are better in the middle.

Ivan Perisic is very capable of playing out wide, and more importantly, this is his best position. While he is versatile and can play through the middle, most of his displays for Internazionale have come out on the left flank. That’s an easy fix to Arsenal’s dilemma.

He sticks to his position well and is able to cross balls into the box. I know, right? Arsenal fans probably forgot what it was like to have a crossing forward. This has been Sead Kolasinac’s role for a long time, which we’ll get on to later…
