5. Signing Perisic would discipline Kolasinac

Sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind. That philosophy definitely applies to Sead Kolasinac. While he was trying his best, on Friday night he was largely at fault for two of the goals which Arsenal conceded against Manchester United. He was too focused on attacking, that it allowed Romelu Lukaku all the space in the world to work with, and it showed with his two smart assists.

This could have easily been avoided if, yet again, Arsenal had a competent player out-wide. This would have taken the onus away from Sead Kolasinac, and allowed him to stick tighter to Lukaku. Don’t get me wrong, Kolasinac is an amazing attacker, but in the big games, he should be given the more defensive role. After all, the Gunners need as much help as they can get at the back given their injury crisis.

In the smaller games against lower-half teams then, by all means, Kolasinac should be given as much license as he needs. I mean, he’s been Arsenal’s main source of creativity this season so that role shouldn’t be stripped of him. But Emery needs to establish some order in the big games and limiting Kolasinac will be a definite help.

Verdict

As an Arsenal fan at this point, I would happily take anyone. Within reason, of course, I don’t want a Yaya Sanogo 2.0. However, if the choice is split between one or the other, which I assume it will be, then Perisic should be the priority.
