This match was nearly a disaster for Juventus and it was one that they realistically didn’t even deserve to win.

From the start of the match Juventus looked like they were in danger of being embarrassed by Lazio on the road. They were thoroughly outplayed for most of the match and were lucky to head into the halftime still tied at 0. Unfortunately for them their luck would run out in the second half.

In the 59th minute Lazio sent in a corner that found the head of Emre Can who was the first player that was able to beat Wojciech Szczesny who looked like he would stop anything that came his way in the match. Juventus would make some substitutions shortly after though that turned the match around.

The introductions of Federico Bernardeschi and Joao Cancelo proved to be pivotal for Juventus. In the 74th minute it was Bernardeschi that made a run that gave him space to send a cross into the box. Paulo Dybala got on the end of that cross and forced a save from Thomas Strakosha. The parried shot ended up in the path of Cancelo whose shot beat Strakosha and leveled the match for Juve. Cancelo wasn’t done there.

In the 88th minute it was Cancelo who drew a penalty when he was taken down in the box. Cristiano Ronaldo stepped up to take the penalty and unlike in Juve’s last match he was didn’t waste the chance. His 15th goal of the season was enough for Juventus to escape with a 2-1 win.

GK: Wojciech Szczesny 8/10

Juventus can thank Wojciech Szczesny for the fact that they even had chance to get back into this match. He made 6 saves over the course of the match and couple of the shots he saved really should’ve found the back of the net. Every time Szczesny puts in a performance like this it makes it hard to believe that we’ll see Mattia Perin claim the starting job any time soon.
