Left Back- Sergio Reguilon- 7.5/10

Sergio Reguilon was handed another start in the league ahead of Marcelo and he did not disappoint for sure. The 22-year-old left back does not offer a lot to the attack, but his defending and overall positioning is really good. The Espanyol performance saw him do a good job, especially at dealing with the pacey Leo Baptistao on Real Madrid’s left wing.

Centre Back- Sergio Ramos- 7.5/10

Sergio Ramos suffered an injury which left Santiago Solari sweating and was subbed off at half-time, but the captain did not need much time to make his mark on the match. Ramos made some very good challenges on Sergio Garcia to reduce his danger and also scored a great header, his third strike in two matches. Hopefully the injury is not too worrying.

Centre Back- Raphael Varane- 7.5/10

Raphael Varane was sent off with fifteen odd minutes of play still to go, but that red card does not take away the Frenchman’s amazing display throughout the time he spent on the pitch. The World Cup winning central defender was all over Borja Iglesias in the match and gave the Espanyol striker absolutely no space to breath. His sending off was correct though.

Right Back- Dani Carvajal- 8/10

Dani Carvajal put in a superb display from the right hand side as he continued his rich vein of form. The Spain international displayed his energy all over the flank and was omnipresent in the attacking areas. Carvajal could have scored one or perhaps even two had it not been for some fluster inside the box. Defensively also, the 27-year-old was breath-taking.
