Manchester City and Pep Guardiola are looking to rinse Real Madrid’s midfield, and having already been linked with Isco, Toni Kroos is on the Citizens’ radar.

Manchester City are going to continue to spend money while Pep Guardiola is on the hot seat, and that is not changing for sure. The defending Premier League champions are now looking to replace David Silva, and while Bernardo Silva has done a good job at replacing the other Silva who has turned City gold, Pep is looking for a better and more natural option.

Pep will turn to Real Madrid

Toni Kroos is the name which has struck Pep Guardiola’s mind, as per sources. The Manchester City manager has already worked with the midfielder for one season whilst at Bayern Munich and is keen on adding him in the City squad. Kroos has had a lot of success with Real Madrid and is open to leaving the Santiago Bernabeu for a new challenge.

Does the transfer make sense for Real Madrid?

The former Bayern Munich midfielder has made it clear that he wants to have a taste of the Premier League before retiring and there could be no better place at the moment than Manchester City in order to help Kroos add to his elegant trophy haul. As a matter of fact, Real Madrid are also open with the prospect of selling him.

Florentino Perez is looking for a transfer fee in the range of 100 million euros in order to let go of the midfielder, four times more than what he paid for Kroos back in 2014. That said, Kroos is now 29 and even though he has not shown any signs of slowing down just yet, Real Madrid look increasingly unlikely to curb down on the average age of their squad by the passing year.

Final thoughts

Toni Kroos is a Real Madrid legend despite being at the club for less than five years now and his partnership in the central area of the park with Luka Modric is perhaps surpassed only by Xavi and Andres Iniesta. However, if Real Madrid are going to get 100 million out of Kroos’ sale in the next one or two years, they might as well let him go to England.
