Joao Cancelo 4.5/10

After such a great match on Sunday, Joao Cancelo’s performance against Atalanta was a major disappointment. He made a horrible giveaway to gift Atalanta their first goal of the match. He wasn’t particularly good for the rest of the match either and didn’t show any of the creativity or attacking ability that have made him such an important part of Juve up to this point in the season. The circumstances under which he entered this match weren’t ideal so it’s reasonable to expect that we’ll get a better version of Cancelo the next time out.

Douglas Costa 6/10

In the 61st minute Allegri fixed one of the major issues with his starting lineup and subbed out Dybala for a real wing. Unfortunately it just wasn’t enough as Juventus was still unable to develop a threatening attack even after Costa was introduced. This match was nothing special from Costa, but it’s hard to expect much more when the team performs like this.

Miralem Pjanic 6/10

The missing ingredient in Juve’s midfield was finally introduced in the 71st minute, but he was unable to change Juve’s fortune after his introduction. The Juventus midfield has been abysmal over the last two matches without Pjanic and hopefully he’ll be able to play a full 90 minutes on Saturday against Parma.

Massimiliano Allegri 0/10

This grade isn’t just because of how awful Juventus was against Atalanta. The zero that Mr. Allegri receives for Juve’s abysmal performance is 100% because this performance has been coming for months. I have said repeatedly that Paulo Dybala should not be started on the wing and he has shown over and over again that this is true. His performances on the wing have repeatedly held Juve’s attack back and that was abundantly clear against Atalanta. Allegri also decided to start the player he considers “like a new signing”, Sami Khedira, in this match which is always a mistake against any team anywhere near Juve’s level. He also kept Pjanic out of the lineup, which he should’ve learned was not an option after the match against Lazio.

Allegri needs to start fixing this squad’s issues soon or the dream of winning a Champions League will be over soon.
