Real Madrid are looking to overhaul their squad in the summer. With the attack definitely in for some changes, Perez is planning to tinker with the defence too.

Real Madrid’s President Florentino Perez remained silent during the last summer and only pulled into his appointer’s robe for landing Brahim Diaz from Manchester City earlier in January. Apart from that, the 71-year-old has remained silent in the transfer market but an explosion from him looks inevitable during the summer.

Eden Hazard could arrive at the club as is widely expected to happen, but there could be massive changes at the back end of Real Madrid with four massive defensive changes likely to be in store, as per reports. Florentino will initially get rid of four first team players before turning to external sources and recruit a few names which are shining in Europe right now.

More from Real Madrid

Keylor Navas has dropped below Thibaut Courtois as the second fiddle in the team, and in spite of winning three Champions Leagues for the Whites, there seems to be less chance of him dethroning the Belgium international. He will be transfer listed and Andriy Lunin, who is currently on loan at Leganes, is expected to be Thibaut Courtois’ understudy at the club.

The biggest shock which comes is in the form of Marcelo potentially being sold, Juventus being a likely destination for the Brazil international. The Whites anyway have Sergio Reguilon in there, but Bayern Munich’s David Alaba is the chosen one to check in at the Bernabeu and replace the likely departing Marcelo.

Real Madrid’s loyal servant in Nacho Fernandez along with the injury prone Jesus Vallejo are likely to be shipped out as well. While the former could be sold, the idea with the latter is to send him across on loan where he can get the playing time and exposure, which is antonymous to his spell at Real Madrid.

In order to take over Nacho and possibly succeed Sergio Ramos in a few years, Ajax Amsterdam’s Mathijs de Ligt, Inter Milan’s Milan Skriniar and PSG’s Marquinhos are potential targets, whereas Eder Militao is also close to arriving from Porto and an official announcement could be made anytime regarding him.
