Messi tempts Barcelona into signing Spanish youngster
Lionel Messi is coming up with a few transfer suggestions to Barcelona, with the latest one being a very highly rated Spanish youngster.
With some of Barcelona’s core players ageing, they are looking at younger options who can come into the team to make a big impact. Dinamo Zagreb winger Dani Olmo is one of those players who fit the Catalans’ requirement and to their benefit, he also has a history with Spain and Barcelona.
Olmo has been born just a few kilometres away from Barcelona, and having played his very tender football with Espanyol, the 20-year-old shifted to La Masia at the age of nine. After being deemed surplus and not good enough to make their first team, Dinamo Zagreb grabbed the opportunity to take him to Croatia.

The 20-year-old is killing it in the Balkan nation and his versatility has come handy for the Croatian giants. A winger by natural position, Olmo is capable of playing anywhere in the midfield too. That said, his control of the ball, agility and passing are all outstanding, thereby making him an ideal product for Barcelona.
The Catalans regret selling one of the lads who could have become a hot property a few years later, but are willing to splash the cash in order to bring him in. Lionel Messi is also enticed by the prospect of seeing Olmo returning to the Camp Nou and probably being one of the club’s future stars.
However, Barcelona has competition in bringing the youngster in from arch-rivals Real Madrid. The Whites’ scouts have monitored Olmo since his days with the under 21 Spanish national team and hence, they seem to have the upper hand after knowing more about the player. In addition, Olmo might be inclined to shifting to Madrid to rub it into Barcelona’s faces.
Having said that, Dinamo Zagreb values the youngster at 26 million euros amid interest from two of Europe’s biggest clubs. The price may increase if more suitors creep in searching for Olmo, so Barcelona or Real Madrid have to be quick in their approach.
