Manchester United have astonishingly entered the race for Karim Benzema and what is more shocking is that Real Madrid is willing to talk regarding a sale.

Manchester United’s victory over Leicester City meant that they have now gone 10 matches without tasting defeat under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. However, the Red Devils are still keeping tabs on former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane in order to occupy the hot seat permanently for the next few seasons.

The three-time UCL winning manager has asked for complete control over transfers from Ed Woodward and it seems like Zidane will be raiding Real Madrid of some of their prized assets. Raphael Varane has always been a favourite of Zizou, whereas Karim Benzema has had a soft spot in the 46-year-old’s heart as well.

More from Real Madrid

Manchester United will reportedly be making an offer for Karim Benzema in the summer transfer window and Real Madrid shockingly is ready to listen to suitors who would look to take the Frenchman away from the Spanish capital of Madrid. Los Blancos have set a price tag of 75 million euros on their sixth all-time top goal scorer.

Karim Benzema is enjoying one of his best seasons in a Real Madrid shirt and has scored 18 times across all competitions. But his gameplay and features involve more than just scoring goals, those characteristics binding him into arguably the world’s most complete and generous number nines, who is a hybrid of a number ten.

At 31, Benzema is nearing the twilight of his career and if Real Madrid is to adhere to their plan of getting rid of ageing men, then we may well be seeing the finale of the former Lyon striker in the Whites’ jersey. With Lukaku failing to maintain consistency, Benzema could even be the first choice at the Old Trafford.

Similar to what Zlatan Ibrahimovic did, Karim Benzema’s experience on the highest level as well as his winning mentality can be a boon for Manchester United who is currently lacking somebody who has a strong history and can lead from the front inside the roster. That said, he might even be part of a swap deal which may see Marcus Rashford go the other way.
