GK: Wojciech Szczesny

Last weekend’s match didn’t go so well for Juventus, but it was great for Wojciech Szczesny’s job security. Mattia Perin had his worst match of his Juventus career and did a pretty poor job trying to stop Parma’s equalizer. Now Wojciech Szczesny will return to his starting spot, a spot he has done surprisingly well in this season. At the beginning of the year it seemed like Szczesny was just going to be a placeholder until Perin was ready to start, but Szczesny has made a pretty strong case that h should be the long-term starter. He’ll need to be fantastic on Sunday to help Juve right the ship.

LB: Alex Sandro

Alex Sandro has been absolutely fantastic over the last 2 months. When Joao Cancelo was injured he picked up the slack in the attacking half to make up for Mattia De Sciglio’s lack of attacking ability and still remained a steadying presence on defense. Sandro just got the day off against Parma (which wasn’t a great idea in retrospect) so he’ll be nice and rested on Sunday as he tries to keep Domenico Berardi from causing trouble on the right wing.

RB: Joao Cancelo

Joao Cancelo was pretty awful against Atalanta in the Coppa Italia, but he managed to bounce back against Parma. He unfortunately wasn’t able to keep the defense from crumbling in the second half, but that certainly wasn’t his fault. He was also a nuisance in the attacking half, which is something he’ll need to continue to provide for this Juve squad. With him and Sandro both starting this match the defense should be a bit better. Juve could be worried about him reaggravating the injury that kept him out for most of December, but he can be given the match off against Frosinone as a precaution. Juve just can’t afford not to have him for this match.
