Chelsea is already looking at signing Mauro Icardi in the summer…

Chelsea recently signed Gonzalo Higuain on loan from Juventus. However, things have not worked out for the Argentine in his short time. He has not lived up to his expectation which you could argue is a tale of his career.

According to The Sun, Chelsea is now interested in signing Mauro Icardi of Internazionale. The striker was linked with a move to Real Madrid, however, Los Blancos has recently cooled their interest given other factors (their pursuit of Neymar being a big one).

Why did Chelsea not sign Mauro Icardi in the first place?

More from Chelsea FC

Chelsea is no stranger to Icardi. After all, they appear to be linked with him in almost every transfer window. That said, it does seem strange that they opted for Higuain as opposed to signing Icardi outright.

Perhaps they actually believed the fairytale that Higuain would join forces with Sarri and things would be dandy once again. That was never going to happen if we’re being honest. Signing Icardi would have added stability, while also adding (much) more talent. In my eyes, anyway.

Icardi does have a fiery side

In case you didn’t know, Icardi has recently been stripped of his captaincy from Internazionale. I don’t think anyone is entirely sure why but one thing’s for sure, Icardi won’t have taken it well. That said, he will be eager to prove the Italian club wrong in his next voyage. This will work in Chelsea’s favour, undeniably.

He has much more to prove that Higuain, who could be leaving in the summer anyway if Sarri leaves (according to Metro).

Despite what this post might suggest, I don’t HATE Higuain. I just think there are better options out there and if the Blues are serious about progressing under Sarri, then he needs to leave his comfort zone more.

Do you think Chelsea should sign Mauro Icardi of Internazionale?
