Maurizio Sarri’s time at Chelsea could be drawing to an inevitable close, luckily the board has some replacements lined up…
Chelsea is going through a rough patch of form. In fairness to them, the big fixtures have been coming thick and fast. They were hammered at the hands of Manchester City while bidding farewell to the FA Cup courtesy of Manchester United.
This is partly due to Maurizio Sarri but also down to the players. According to Sky Sports, should Chelsea choose to fire Sarri, then they will have two options available to them. One of those comes in the shape of Frank Lampard, whom the Blues will be fond of from his playing days. The other is Zinedine Zidane, who endured much success at Real Madrid.
Big pressure for Sarri

Sarri is already under immense pressure from the Chelsea board. It was revealed earlier that he has just one cup final against Manchester City in order to salvage his career in London. That added onto this gives the Italian some big pressure.
If he fails to win against the defending champions and the best team in England then runs the risk of being replaced by Zidane or a club legend. Quite off-putting. If he is serious about managing for the long run at Chelsea then he needs to buckle down and convince his players to do the same.
Zinedine Zidane is the best option
If the tossup between Zidane and Lampard is to arise then the Chelsea board must opt for Zidane. Even if there a larger sum and more expectations involved, the Blues cannot let this opportunity slip through their fingertips. I mean, this is the guy that won the Champions League in three consecutive seasons with Real Madrid.
It’s reported that he is showing a keen interest in managing at Stamford Bridge. This was also the case with Manchester United but the Red Devils didn’t capitalise on the opportunity. While it worked out for them in the end, the Blues can’t afford to make the same mistake.
Zidane would come in and implement a winning mentality. It’s what Chelsea needs more than ever right now. Of course, Zidane will want to be active in the transfer window but it isn’t a priority. The talent is there at Stamford Bridge, it’s just the belief which is missing.
Do you think Chelsea should appoint Zinedine Zidane or Frank Lampard as their manager after Maurizio Sarri?
