Tottenham love to find a bargain in the transfer market, and meeting Pablo Fornals’ release clause could be a great purchase for Spurs at a low price.

By the time the summer transfer window opens it will have been more than 12 months since Tottenham have acquired a player in the transfer market. It’s widely expected that Spurs will purchase midfield reinforcements this summer. Pablo Fornals may well be the best value available this summer.

Amazingly, the 23-year-old Villarreal star can be had for just £25 million. That’s the price of his current release clause. As news of that clause has leaked out, the list of suitors for Fornals’ services has gotten longer and longer.

Tottenham are absolutely one of the clubs in the mix. If Spurs are going to successfully lure Fornals to North London they’re going to need to offer him a competitive wage packet. That will likely be the determining factor as to which club wins his services. Evidently Fornals believes he can find the most lucrative wages in the Premier League.

Fornals is a player Tottenham should definitely purchase given his modest release clause. Paying just £25 million for a La Liga midfielder just entering the prime of his career is a terrific bargain. The fact that Fornals is flashing world-class ability this season for Villarreal makes it all the more attractive.

The young Spaniard is at his best when he’s allowed to play as a roaming midfielder. He plays as a No. 10 frequently for Villarreal. Fornals has also enjoyed success when deployed as a right-sided midfielder. In theory, he could be useful in any number of roles for Mauricio Pochettino.

He’s not an overly physical midfielder, but he’s not afraid to stick his nose in and make a challenge either. In particular, he reads the game really well. That allows him to get into passing lanes to disrupt the opposition.

Of course, he really stands out when his team is in possession. Fornals has an innate ability to hit perfectly weighted passes for his teammates. He’ll remind Spurs fans of the way Christian Eriksen plays through balls for his teammates.

Next. Maxi Gomez would be a strange purchase for Tottenham. dark

In the end, Fornals may not be the best possible midfielder Tottenham can acquire this summer, but he’s almost certainly the best bargain purchase Daniel Levy can make. That means he’s definitely a player Spurs fans should keep a close eye on moving forward.
