Real Madrid’s season has gone from bad to worse in a couple of days and only a change in dynamics is going to give them some hope going into 2019/20.

Real Madrid’s season is on the line for a second year in a row, and for the next three months which remain, Santiago Solari’s men have to put their eggs in one basket- the UEFA Champions League- because the Copa del Rey is done and dusted, while the La Liga has also gone out of Madrid’s hands to be realistic.

More from Real Madrid

Two defeats to Barcelona in a space of less than 100 real life hours sent Real Madrid’s hopes of winning a domestic accolade down the drain and now, they have to concentrate on the Ajax match and what lies ahead. While the squad lost with honour and knows that it only lacked finishing touches, Florentino Perez is absolutely pissed off with everyone.

Four goals against and no goal for the team over 180 footballing minutes left the Real Madrid president red-faced and he is now planning to get rid of five key components of the first team during the summer, as per reports. The 71-year-old’s idea is to make big money by parting company with big names and invest it on younger and hungrier prospects.

The first and more or less the obvious name who will not be in Spain’s capital is Santiago Solari. While he has definitely done a better job than Julen Lopetegui, he is still not up to the Real Madrid standard especially with the man management and tactical setup. Real Madrid were psychologically beaten in the second Clasico and that was just down to one man.

Wales international Gareth Bale is going to be directed towards the exit door as well. His injury problems could have been excused even though he would get paid a hefty sum for just being on the treatment table, but his attitude and tantrum throwing is absolutely not done, more so when he cannot even deliver on a consistent basis. 60 million euros should be his asking price.

The next three names are a bit of a surprise with Toni Kroos leading that list. The former Bayern Munich midfielder wants to play in the Premier League at one point in his career. He has been probably the steal of the century after signing for Real Madrid at just 25 million euros, but this year, he has had his poor moments. Yet, selling him would be ludicrous.

Casemiro is the one sandwiched between numbers one and three. The Brazil international has had stiff competition from Marcos Llorente, who is currently injured. While Casemiro will have a lot of suitors, the Merengues absolutely need him. Moreover, he has been a vital cog in each of their last four Champions League triumphs. That said, he has improved a lot in the second half of this season.

Karim Benzema is the final player who could be offloaded. The Frenchman will clearly go down as a Real Madrid legend and even to this day, what he does is criminally underrated. Florentino Perez has continued to back him but there seems to be no clear as to why he might be sold as every coach loves a player like Karim Benzema in the setup.
