Time is ticking for Santiago Solari at Real Madrid…

Santiago Solari is both the best and worst thing to happen to Real Madrid this season. When he was appointed to replace Julen Lopetegui, things looked incredibly positive. However, things look a lot different now. After falling short to Ajax midweek, Los Blancos have now exited three competitions within a week. It’s time for a change around!

According to The Telegraph, Real Madrid may not need to look far in their quest. They have reported that Jose Mourinho is very confident in returning to Spain in the summer, in order to finish off what he set out to achieve. The former Manchester United boss was recently sacked from Old Trafford.

Jose Mourinho is a born winner

Mourinho has his fair share of critics, and rightly so. As an Arsenal fan, I would be telling lies if I said I don’t have my doubts about him. However, no matter what your opinion is, one thing cannot be denied. Jose Mourinho loves to win and he will do whatever is necessary to win.

Mourinho never managed to lift a Champions League trophy at Madrid. However, he has lifted two elsewhere with Porto and Inter Milan. Since this is the competition which Real Madrid covet, it seems like a no-brainer to appoint Mourinho.

The downsides of bringing in Mourinho

More from Real Madrid

Mourinho does come with a lot of baggage, that’s for certain. Firstly, he is not the best man-manager of all time. He is known to get in arguments with his players quite a lot, and this is the last thing Real Madrid needs right now. However, the stern figure could also work in their favour, it just depends on how the players react.

Also, Mourinho is by no means a long-term option. Mourinho often peaks after around two seasons with a club, and the third is often when he gets fired. This is fine, so long as Real Madrid has a long-term plan in place.

Do you think Jose Mourinho is the best fit for Real Madrid right now?
