Yes, Liverpool may have a pretty good squad right now, but failing to add to that could cost them big-time…
The Premier League moves faster than lightning. If you fail to keep up with the times in terms of transfers, then other teams can easily surpass you. Liverpool fans will hope this isn’t the case for their side.
However, Jurgen Klopp has some bad news for them if this is the case. According to the Sunday Times, the German manager feels like his side does not need any “big-money buys”. While you could argue this is true, there are many flaws in Liverpool’s style of play…
Liverpool does need more depth in their defence

Hold up, I’m not going to bore you with the old cliche of ‘Liverpool’s defence is bad’. That myth was proven wrong ages ago, and actually, Liverpool is now one of the more defensively-able sides in the Premier League.
However, they could definitely do with adding some more depth to their defensive line. Outside of the obvious Virgil van Dijk, there is some serious room for improvement. Dejan Lovren isn’t bad when partnered with van Dijk, and Joel Matip has improved massively in recent weeks. But as we’ve seen in recent years, defensive injuries can cost you the season. Cough, Arsenal, cough.
Jurgen Klopp isn’t the type for big-money signings
Come to think of it, there haven’t been many examples of the Reds signing big names under Jurgen Klopp. When you think about some of the best players he has signed, many of them arrived for a cheap fee. Just look at the likes of Xherdan Shaqiri and Andrew Robertson.
Just because Klopp isn’t going to break the bank, that doesn’t mean he isn’t going to significantly improve the Liverpool squad. I’m sure I was initially being reactionary when I said that Liverpool needs to improve because they certainly do not need an overhaul.
Their signings could depend on the outcome of this season. They are still in a race for the Premier League title, as well as standing a chance in the Champions League again. The Reds must push for some sort of silverware, so if they fail to obtain any this season then, of course, they need to rethink their transfer strategy.
