Losing your star player is never a good feeling, however, Chelsea fans will feel a sense of relief knowing they’ll still have Callum Hudson-Odoi…

Eden Hazard is Chelsea’s best player, by far and away. He shows his talent consistently, although he has been somewhat off-track with the club’s recent shortcomings. Either way, he is the most pivotal player at Maurizio Sarri’s disposal, which makes his contract situation incredibly worrying.

In case you didn’t know, Eden Hazard‘s contract runs out next summer. That said, after this transfer window, he will have just one season remaining. It doesn’t look likely that Chelsea will persuade the Belgian to stay and Real Madrid are still sniffing around the situation.

According to The Sun, Chelsea will decide not to sell Callum Hudson-Odoi if they do lose out on Eden Hazard in the summer. Hudson-Odoi impressed in pre-season and he’s been a revelation under Sarri this season. So much so, that the 18-year-old recently earned his first England call-up.

It’s been a topsy-turvy season for the London club. Fans were initially joyful following the board’s decision to bring in Maurizio Sarri, however, this feeling soon deteriorated. Now Chelsea finds themselves falling further and further adrift of the top four, currently sitting behind Manchester United in 6th place.

I just want to say, Hudson-Odoi is nowhere near Hazard’s level. However, he is showing plenty of promise that he can reach somewhere near this level. All he needs is time to nurture and consistent game time, which he will receive if things turn out well for Sarri.

I suppose he is similar to Hazard in some regards. Both of them are immense with the ball at their feet, although Hudson-Odoi has the tendency to attempt more skills whereas Hazard is a man of patience and control. Still, if it works then it works!
