Real Madrid’s prime target has his eyes set on a transfer to Spain’s capital and he has gone on to deny advances from Barcelona in the running.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen’s departure from north London is pretty certain now and all signs point towards the Dane moving to Real Madrid. The Denmark international has been long linked with a move to the Spanish capital, and with his contract set to expire next year, it looks like Eriksen could be coming in this summer.

The former Ajax Amsterdam midfielder wants to win trophies in his career and with Tottenham definitely not the right place to do so, he feels that his time could be up. As a matter of fact, it did seem like Eriksen could be on his way to the Bernabeu last year only, but Pochettino did convince him to stay for another season and give winning another shot.

More from Real Madrid

The Lilywhites have already suffered losses to ambitions in the Carabao and FA Cups, whereas the Premier League is realistically out of hand too. A two-legged Champions League quarter-final versus Manchester City awaits Tottenham, but they head into the stage as second favourites too and a run all the way in Europe seems like an ask too big.

Christian Eriksen now feels that moving to Real Madrid could be a perfect time. Zidane’s Madrid seems to have caught his attention, and the coach’s winning mentality coupled with the Whites’ success over the last few years has been a decisive factor. Moreover, Tottenham has to sell him this summer or risk losing him for free in the next summer.

The 27-year-old can be a replacement to Luka Modric within a few years or even act as a locum to Toni Kroos, who has been linked with a transfer to Manchester City of late. Christian Eriksen can be the ideal midfielder for Real Madrid, who also likes to get amongst the goals, thanks to his outstanding ability at long shots.

In his process of courting Real Madrid into signing him, Eriksen has rejected offers from Barcelona. The Catalans were equally interested in signing him as Ivan Rakitic has been linked with a move out lately whereas Adrien Rabiot has not managed to agree on terms with the club just yet in spite of so much talk.
