International break curse? Never heard of it…

Many clubs dread the international break, and rightly so. It interrupts the flow of the league season, can lead to unnecessary injuries and even dictate transfer decisions in some cases. However, that’s not the case for Arsenal anymore.

This is partly due to their players being underrated by their respective international coaches, but also down to luck. Also, it helps that the best player, Mesut Ozil, has already retired from international duty due to feeling uncomfortable in his settings.

Arsenal is ready to face Newcastle

More from Arsenal FC

Arsenal will host Newcastle in the next round of their Premier League voyage. They are in good form lately, losing just one of their last five games. During this time, Arsenal has also scored an impressive 14 goals. That’s not bad considering these matches have featured Manchester United and Tottenham!

For contrast, Newcastle is beginning to pick up some form too. They have a similar record to Arsenal, losing just one game in their last five matches. However, Arsenal will inevitably be favourites heading into this match.

The only injury news is positive for the Gunners. The likes of Danny Welbeck and Hector Bellerin are making progress in their recoveries, with Welbeck even taking part in some light training in recent weeks. Those who were not involved in international duty also kept their fitness up during a friendly in sunny Dubai.

Unai Emery will have kept the spirits high, and he will look forward to welcoming back his boys with three points. The fans will expect nothing less than three points after their form was halted by the dreaded break.

I am most looking forward to watching Granit Xhaka, who scored an incredible goal with his weak feet for Switzerland. Also, Alexandre Lacazette got on the scoresheet in Dubai, the assist provider being Mesut Ozil. All of this and more should make for a good affair!
