Real Madrid’s Ballon d’Or winner, Luka Modric, could be gotten rid of during the summer as Zinedine Zidane’s continues to plan his squad overhauling.

Zinedine Zidane wants an overhaul of his squad during the summer and has complete liberty over the departures and arrivals of the players on the roster. A number of forwards, midfielders and defenders have been linked to the club over the recent weeks and players like Gareth Bale and Thibaut Courtois have also been thought to be leaving.

One of the shock transfers which could take place is the departure of Luka Modric, according to claims. The Croatia international has been the subject of interest from Inter Milan as well as a few Premier League sides and despite his willingness of staying at Real Madrid, he could be sold during the summer.

Real Madrid follow a policy of keeping younger players in their squad and that has been prevalent over the last two seasons, and at 34, there seems to be no way via which Luka will be handed an extension to his contract at the club. It now looks like Real Madrid could let go of Modric in case a bid in the range of 40 million euros comes.

Zinedine Zidane wants Mateo Kovacic as the replacement to Modric. The midfielder is currently on loan at Chelsea, and despite the Blues’ intention of wanting to make the deal permanent, FIFA’s sanctions prohibit the west Londoners from doing so. That said, there are a few external players who could be transferred in as well.

Christian Eriksen’s transfer to Real Madrid is looking imminent given that he will enter the final year of his Tottenham contract at the end of the 2018/19 season. But players like Paul Pogba, N’Golo Kante and Adrien Rabiot have been linked with a transfer to Madrid, in addition to Tanguy Ndombele.
